Autism Video Update

As a reminder, all certified staff members and PECs are requested to watch a video on autism and complete a brief survey by September 30. The video, companion resources (PDF of the PowerPoint, National Autism Center standards report) and the survey link are available on the Intranet under the Professional Development Resources tab. Then click on the Autism Resources link.

The purpose of the video is to build a common knowledge and language around Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and develop awareness of the most current evidence-based interventions for individuals with ASD, based on the comprehensive standards report released by the National Autism Center. This common knowledge and language is important, as our knowledge of ASD has expanded and the number of individuals with ASD Heartland serves has increased over the past several years.

For questions about this video, please contact Alecia Rahn-Blakeslee, Program Assistant, Innovation, at arahn@aea11.k12.ia.us or ext. 14623. For questions about Heartland services for students with ASD, contact Stacy Volmer, Program Assistant, Challenging Behavior & Autism/Challenging Behavior & Autism Consultant, at svolmer@aea11.k12.ia.us or ext. 14494.
