Staff iPads for 2012-2013 School Year

Our agency is expanding the use of iPads during the 2012-2013 school year. The iPad has proven to be a tool that will enhance the services we provide to schools. There is also great potential for us to learn new ways that this device can be used in the future to improve learning for both teachers and students. There are questions about whether or not the iPad will someday replace computers for some staff members. We hope to learn more about that through this initial implementation.

As an initial step, Regional Directors were asked to identify staff members with the greatest potential of utilizing an iPad. The names and positions of those individuals are listed below. If you were not one of the individuals identified and believe that the iPad could significantly impact your work, please have a conversation with your Regional Director. This will assist greatly with future decisions.

If you are one of the individuals identified to be assigned an iPad, you will need to attend training to receive your device. A list of training dates, locations and registration numbers is attached below. For individuals attending sessions off-contract before the school year starts or on Saturday, a $100 payment is available (funded through Teacher Quality). An addendum form will be available for you at the session. If none of the sessions work for you, we will be scheduling additional sessions later in August. Please click on the link for the session you wish to attend or go the Professional Development Catalog and type in the activity number. You will not find it by searching the calendar because attendance is limited to Heartland employees.

Update: Web IEP, Web IFSP & IMS Servers Down for Maintenance July 27

Due to an unforeseen circumstance, the servers for Web IEP, Web IFSP and IMS will be down for an upgrade of server software on Friday, July 27, rather than on Friday, July 20. The servers will be down from approximately 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. It is likely that the amount of time the servers are actually down will be less than this 3.5-hour window. For more information about this scheduled interruption, please go to www.iowaidea.org.
