Official Agency Hours
The official agency hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Supervisors may schedule staff outside of these hours to meet the unique coverage needs of each work area.
Flexible Scheduling
Employees will be allowed to request reconsideration of their scheduled hours on the first day of March, June, September and December. Supervisors shall be responsible to ensure that modified schedules will not result in reduction in services to clients.
In regional offices, office hours are set by the regional directors based on the needs of the region, and they will schedule staff members accordingly. Regional directors will communicate their office hours to their districts, their staff and the Agency receptionist. Staff members should discuss any questions about flex hours with their supervisor.
Summer Flex Hours
Summer flex hours are available this summer from Monday, June, 11, 2012 to Friday, August 10, 2012, with regular scheduling resuming on Monday, August 13, 2012. During this period, supervisors may approve summer flex hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. With supervisor approval, the 60-minute lunch break may be shortened to 30 minutes.
When considering approval of summer flex hours, priority will be placed on coverage of work functions over staff preference. Therefore, there may be some variation of individual schedules within or across workgroups. Staff members should discuss any questions about summer flex hours with their supervisor.

New Wellness Resources & Calendar Available
As we plan for more wellness activities next year, we are rolling out a couple of new resources to help you be healthy while you work, as well as keep you up-to-date on wellness activities that are taking place.
First, if you visit the Wellness tab on your Employee Dashboard, you will find links that help you learn how to exercise at work, eat healthier and assess your 10-year heart attack risk. These links will be updated often, and if you have a great link you want to share with others, send it to Doug Schuster at dschuster@aea11.k12.ia.us for review.
Along with the links, there is now a wellness calendar in your Kerio e-mail calendars. If you look at the left side list of items in Kerio, you will find a folder called “Public Folders.” If you click on that folder, there should be a calendar called “Wellness Calendar.” This calendar will include wellness-related activities happening at the Agency, as well as activities taking place in and around the communities where our employees live. It is currently loaded up with information for many local famers markets, so check it out! If you have events you’d like to add to the calendar, send them to Tony Chiaramonte at tchiaramonte@aea11.k12.ia.us for review.
For those employees in the central region (not assigned to a region) who completed their physical for the “know your numbers” campaign, your casual day sticker will be delivered to you within the next two weeks. Also, on May 23 chief administrator Paula Vincent and other members of the Agency Planning Council will be bringing healthy food for those who helped the central region win by getting their physical and filling out their well-being assessment.
And don’t forget, if you haven’t gotten your physical yet this year, you can always do it this summer. If you do, you’ll be ahead of the game when we start our wellness activities and competitions next year. If you have any questions, contact Tony Chiaramonte at tchiaramonte@aea11.k12.ia.us.
