Wellness Update

Know Your Numbers
Thanks to everyone who participated in the “Know Your Numbers” campaign. We know everyone is excited to hear which region won the contest, and we will announce the winning region in the next couple of weeks!

As we wrap up the “Know Your Numbers” campaign this spring, each region will be planning a Wellness event. Most regions will be planning a healthy food day or wellness activity and the date of each region’s event day is listed below. We are encouraging everyone to start developing healthy eating habits, so the Agency will provide healthy snacks throughout each office during the whole week of your region’s Wellness event. See your Wellness Coordinator for more details.

Wellness Event Dates
Region 1 – May 3
Region 2 – May 14
Region 3 – May 15 (Indianola) and May 18 (Knoxville)
Region 4 – April 18
Region 5 – May 3
Region 6 – April 18 and April 11 (Neveln)
Region 7 – May 25
Region 8 – May 3
Central Office and Administration Building – May 24

Wellness Lunch & Learn
Along with the regional events, we will be holding a wellness lunch and learn on April 18 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms 13 A & B in the Johnston REC, and we hope you will all be able to attend. Dr. John Amspaugh, a family medicine physician from Urbandale, will be explaining what our “numbers” mean. Those of you who got your physical and did your well-being assessment will now be equipped to learn what those numbers mean and how to get them moving in the right direction. Whether you completed the well-being assessment or not, we think you’ll find it very helpful to understand what your doctor means when he/she tells you your LDL is too high or you need to reduce your blood pressure. Feel free to bring your lunch. There will be plenty of time for questions. If you’re not able to come in person, we’ll be providing an option that will allow you to view the program live from your office or to view it at a later date on the Intranet.
