July 2012 Board of Directors Meeting Recap

The regular meeting of the Heartland Board of Directors was held on July 10.

Public Forum and Correspondence
No one from the public was present to address the Board.

The Board acknowledged receipt of the director district resolution from the Panorama Community School District. As part of the 2010 census, some districts have had to reconfigure their director district boundaries due to shifts in population.

Discussion Items
Web Design Proposal
Ms. Sheila King discussed the need for updating the Agency’s website. The current website has outdated information and there are structure concerns with how the site functions. Given the Agency’s current staffing circumstances, the Agency would like to recommend outsourcing the work and contracting with a company that understands and designs websites. Global Reach is a website design company that is already being extensively used by four other area education agencies. They would help develop, design, build and host the infrastructure for a re-designed website. A contract has been developed and is currently being vetted through the Agency’s attorneys. Once it’s finalized, it will be shared with the Board for future action and approval.

2013 Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) Legislative Priorities
