Required Action: Jeans on the Last Friday of the Month Only with Heartland Apparel
Please note that wearing jeans on the last Friday of the month is acceptable only if you are wearing a Heartland-logo shirt. A new apparel order form will be available soon if you wish to order something new.
I am very confused and disappointed by this post. At the beginning of the school year or perhaps last school year, all staff was told that we are to try to partner and follow our schools lead. We were told that if they wear jeans on Friday, we too, were also encouraged to wear jeans. I feel this is a strong contradiction and just proves to make the deperation between "us" and "them" more obvious.

ReplyDelete1) Is it acceptable to wear district shirts on jean days? Some districts have allowed Heartland staff to get district T-shirts. I think this is a great way to partner, and it would be a shame if those staff were not allowed to wear those district shirts when they have been welcomed into the district in that way.
2) Does it have to be a Heartland logo shirt, or is it acceptable to wear one's own apparel that is Heartland colors? I have some shirts that are purple or green that look very appropriate with jeans and would prefer to wear the shirts I have rather than purchasing another shirt. In the present economic times, requiring a Heartland logo shirt may be cost prohibitive for some and it would be unfortunate if some could not participate in a jean day for this reason. If the concern is that someone would wear a shirt that is not appropriate, I would hope that what is "appropriate" could be dealt with by supervisors.
3) If the decision is made that we can only wear Heartland logo apparel, can we have more options? Something in a green or purple would be nice. Maybe a button down shirt or a hoodie in one of those colors?
I am hoping that these questions can addressed and this decision can be reconsidered.
These are great suggestions that will be reviewed by leadership. One clarification, wearing district shirts on Fridays when you are in the schools did not change. Please check with your partnership directors for their decision around this use.
