Education Technology Grant Specialist Position Available

Over the past few months, the AEA Media Directors and UENs from across the state have been working collaboratively to write a proposal for the Educational Technology ARRA Grant from the Department of Education. When the ARRA funds were released last summer, there was a small portion of funds designated for educational technology. Rather than each AEA and UEN spending these funds on separate projects, we have collaborated statewide to focus on one area: K-12 online learning.

The purpose of this grant is to provide online learning opportunities for students, professional development for K-12 teachers to learn to teach online and online credit recovery options for high school students. We are beginning the process of advertising for an Ed Tech ARRA Grant Specialist to manage this project and coordinate the efforts of the AEAs and UENs. This position is a 16-month position that will end in September 2011.

Grant Wood AEA is serving as the fiscal agent of this grant and will therefore chair the hiring process and oversee the employment of this individual. A joint selection committee with AEA and UEN representatives will be established to interview and select the best candidate for this position. We hope to have the selection made by May 18.

If you have any questions about this position, please review the job description or contact your Media Director at your local AEA. Link to the job description: www.aea10.k12.ia.us/vacancies/arraedtechgrantspec.html.
