Maureen retired on June 30 after 20 years of service to the Agency.
Maureen says, “Our daughter Marissa’s business, Straw Hat Farms, will fill up my time as well as our two grandchildren, Grace, 3, and Sam, 1. I have greatly enjoyed my job over the years being able to support educators and families with children who have special needs to be as successful as possible and obtain available resources. Thank you for all the opportunities I have had and friendships I have made over the years.”

I had to write and share with you just how amazing your Early ACCESS team is with collaborating with families. We just got done with an eligibility determination meeting, and the parents of the child for whom we were meeting used words such as “angels,” “coaches” and “friends for life” when describing the evaluating team. The parents thanked the team for their guidance and patience throughout the process. In fact, the team and parents partnered so well that the little girl grew tremendously and does not require any specially designed instruction in behavior or academics! Thank you to such an amazing group of professionals to collaborate within our preschool!

Kudos and congratulations to the Instructional Technology Team for their organization, implementation and delivery of a successful Heart of Innovation Summer Summit June 15-16! With over 100 participants in attendance, the enthusiasm for learning was a refreshing and invigorating step out of a turbulent year. The team’s attention to detail, use of visuals and ability to collectively collaborate made for an impressive Heartland AEA event! Educators who attended had nothing but wonderful things to say about the variety of sessions that resulted in wonderful learning. Thank you to the team for your ideas, innovations and determination to make a terrific 2021 Summit!

Congratulations to Rachel Jones (School Psychologist/AD) and her husband, Daniel Walter, on the birth of their son, Isaac Samuel Walter. Isaac was born June 10, 2021, and weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 ¾ inches long.
Congratulations to Jenny Padgett (School Psychologist/AD) and her husband, Jordan, on the birth of their son, Moss Marshall Padgett. Moss was born June 4, 2021, and weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 inches long. He was welcomed home by his big sister, Maya.
