United Way Campaign Continues—Multiple Ways to Show Your Support!

Below are two examples of how United Way is making a real impact in our communities. Won’t you consider donating?

Summer in the City – United Way made investments in several programs last summer designed to help students avoid learning loss over the summer months. The programs included literacy, health/nutrition and family engagement components. United Way’s investment in these Summer in the City programs was made possible due to the success of our recent campaigns and the generosity of Central Iowans – like you!
Opportunity Summit – Last summer United Way partnered with other community organizations to bring together nearly 120 leaders and residents to discuss ways to end poverty in Central Iowa. The Opportunity Summit is just one example of the many ways United Way serves as a convener in our community – pulling together great thinkers, passionate advocates, experts, etc. to attack the critical issues facing our community.
Pledge Cards
Pledge cards are an easy way to donate to the United Way. If you donate $50 or more, you are able to designate if you’d like your donated to go to specific agency/organization. Remember that everyone who hands in a pledge card donation of any amount will receive a casual day sticker! Casual day stickers will be distributed after the pledge cards have been processed. Pledge cards are available in every office. Please send completed cards to Samantha Perry, Human Resources Specialist, in the Johnston Administration Center. Pledge cards are great way to show your support, and they are the only way that United Way tracks our agency’s participation, so the more pledge cards we collect, the better our participation rate is!

Online Auction
The agency-wide United Way online auction launched Oct. 22 and bidding continues until 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 31! We’ve gotten some great bids so far, but we know there are some items out there that haven’t reached their full potential! Sign in today using your PeopleBox username and password and do some shopping! Winning bidders will be notified by e-mail the week of November 3 to send in their payments (preferably checks made out to United Way) and to make arrangements for receiving their auction items. If you have any difficulty logging in to the auction site, contact Maureen Whited at mwhited@heartlandaea.org

Regional/Office Events
The Johnston campus and each regional office will be doing their own individual fundraising event in support of United Way. Your participation is encouraged and appreciated!
