If you have already completed the 103 training module in Moodle (due March 10) you may disregard this article. If you have not yet completed the 103 module in Moodle, please do so before this Friday. This module meets our training requirements for 103 that are outlined in the rule. The module contains state resources for your review and a brief quiz to show understanding of the materials. Instructions for accessing the module are described below.
Training requirements for school (including AEA) staff were added to the amended rule. Because of this, all Heartland staff who work in schools (when children are present) on a regular basis need to complete the training. If you have a question regarding if you are required to participate, please contact your supervisor.
We will be pulling the information regarding who has taken the module and submitting it for this year’s training requirements on Friday, May 14.
Directions for Accessing Moodle and Chapter 103 Training This learning opportunity will be done completely online, using Moodle. To get set up, you can go to Heartland’s Moodle site at: http://moodle.aea11.k12.ia.us/moodle.
When you are there, click the login link in the far upper right corner of the screen. On the next screen, if you’ve never used Heartland’s Moodle server, you’ll click “Create a New Account.” You will be asked to enter a username (Please use your Heartland e-mail address up to the @). For example, my username is sbrown). It will also ask for a password, full name and e-mail address. Once you’ve entered that information, click “Create My New Account.” A verification e-mail will be sent to you (you might want to check your spam filter/folder if you don't receive it). If you have taken a class on Moodle from Heartland before, you will want to test your username and password to make sure all is working.
Now that you can sign in to Moodle, you’re ready to access our Chapter 103 training. From the link above, you will click on the category “Positive Behavior Supports.” In there, you will see the module, “Review of Chapter 103.” Once inside the course, on the left hand side of the screen is a link that says “enroll me in this course.” Click that link to enroll prior to being able to take the quiz.
Once inside the course, you’ll see three sections. The first contains the videos of the state training that Heartland has created. The second contains links to various Chapter 103 resources available through the Department of Education. The last section of the module contains the quiz that is required to be completed with a minimum of 9/10 answers correct. If you have questions about accessing Moodle, please contact Sarah Brown at ext. 14380.
